(01) Challenge
Brainstem set out to create a mobile-first platform that empowers users to monitor their health through real-time metrics and advanced biomarker analysis. The challenge was to craft a sleek, intuitive interface capable of visualizing complex health data across activity, sleep, stress, and posture — all while syncing with wearables like Apple Watch and medical-grade devices.
(02) Approach
We developed a bold, data-driven UI that prioritizes clarity and usability. The app structure was modular, with distinct blocks for assessment (health score, HRV, breathing, posture) and improvement (sleep, realtime recording, health surveys). Our team implemented dark theme design, neon color-coded statuses, and advanced charts to support deep personal insights and intuitive navigation.

The Brainstem app now delivers actionable health intelligence to users in real-time. It provides a smooth onboarding experience, seamless device connection, and meaningful feedback on physiological performance. Designed to support both general users and professionals, the app has elevated Brainstem’s brand and opened new B2C and B2B partnership opportunities.
Design Strategy
Our design strategy focused on blending functional clinical clarity with fitness-inspired aesthetics. We balanced high-contrast dark mode visuals with bright indicators and minimal interface distractions, allowing users to focus on what matters — health improvement. Clear UX flows ensure high engagement and consistent retention.



Design, Development, and Testing
We led the project across two phases. First — UX mapping, biomarker data modeling, and dark theme prototyping. Second — mobile UI design for iOS, component-based development, and testing for biometric device integration. Special focus was placed on chart rendering, performance at scale, and HIPAA-aware UX standards.

Interactive Design
Microinteractions such as module loading states, swipe animations, and real-time syncing were implemented to enhance engagement. Charts were animated on scroll, breathing sessions included guided visuals, and users could assess trends through dynamic data blocks, adding both clarity and emotional connection to the experience.

Production Details
Brainstem was developed using React Native for cross-platform consistency, with secure APIs for wearable device data. We provided a scalable design system, custom chart libraries, and modular components. Our team also delivered design-to-dev specs, animation files, and UX documentation for future product iterations.

Architecture includes modular biometric tracking, offline syncing, and personalized health survey logic.

High-performance rendering and native Apple HealthKit & Google Fit integration were implemented from day one.


setting the tone
The visual tone of Brainstem balances clinical intelligence and athlete-grade motivation. We used a neon-accented palette on a near-black background for modern sophistication. Fonts like Geomisans and Inter were selected for clarity across data-heavy screens. Visuals guide the user through a highly focused health journey.
